Mom Win Wednesday: Rebekah Hargraves

As a mom, you may not have qualified for the Rio Olympics, but you certainly deserve a spot on the podium in our eyes. There are no “perfect scores” in motherhood, but if you had a discipline breakthrough, managed a meltdown, or found time in your day to pursue a dream, then we want to take a moment and celebrate alongside you. Even the little “victories” add up to be big wins in the long run; so let’s champion each other. After all, we’re on the same team.

Today we are featuring Rebekah Hargraves. I have enjoyed following her on social media and learning more of her heart for moms.

I would love to share a cup of coffee with you! So tell us – do you wear any other hats in addition to your [big, gigantic, hugely significant] Mom Hat?

I do! I’m also a homeschooling nanny to an 8 year old girl, an Etsy shop owner (www.cozyteatreasures.etsy.com), blogger ;( @rebekahhargraves on Instagram, @hhomeandhearth on Twitter, and Hargraves Home and Hearth on Facebook), podcaster (The Home and Hearth podcast on iTunes and Stitcher), new author, and am also now beginning to branch out into a speaking ministry.

Wow! You have a full plate, girl but I think it’s amazing how you balance it all with such grace! Tell us about your kids…

Anna will be turning three in January, and is such a sweetheart. I already see a little servant’s heart and caring spirit growing in her, for which I am so thankful! She has a pretty independent streak sometimes and can also be quite given to drama occasionally, but she truly is a joy. James turns a year old at the end of this month and is our more high-maintenance child! He is all about time, attention, and cuddles, which is precious but makes nighttime a bit hard when he doesn’t want to sleep! He, too, is a joy, though, as he shares his sweet cuddles and smiles that can light up any room.

Such sweet little buddies! What is a recent mom win you experienced that took time and perseverance to accomplish?

Michelle
Rebekah

This has been a full year! In this year alone, I launched and continue to produce a biweekly podcast and have also written a book and companion Bible study. All praise for the completion of these projects belongs solely to the Lord, though, Who must have miraculously multiplied my time in order for me to be able to accomplish this work while also being a wife and mama. There simply is no other explanation! I couldn’t even have handled all the technology know-how required for these projects on my own. To God be the glory!

Wow, it is amazing how much you’ve accomplished while being a wife and mom. But I also know when God originates things, He orchestrates the details for things. That’s awesome!

What is a mom win that you would text your best friend?

Michelle
Rebekah

As a result of writing my book, “Lies Moms Believe (And How the Gospel Refutes Them)”, I have come to see just how applicable the Word of God truly is to each and every lie we could ever face in motherhood – be it lies about postpartum body issues, mommy guilt, finding our identity in motherhood, or thinking we have to be “perfect” and “do it all”. I would text my best friend about this and encourage her to look to the Word first and foremost when facing any struggle, challenge, question, or hardship in motherhood.

That would be an encouraging text to receive!! ?Any words of encouragement for other moms in the trenches like you?

Because mothering is a good work, we can view it through the lens of Ephesians 2:10, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” As a good work, motherhood has been prepared for us, and we have been prepared for the work of mothering. The Lord has equipped us with everything we could ever need for this journey within the pages of His Word (see 2 Timothy 3:16-17). We can do this, mamas!

That is really encouraging. Thank you for sharing such great truth with us mamas.  ?

About Michelle Warner

The truth about me is that I love spending time with people–whether it be with moms in MOPS, students in writing camps, friends in my supper club, or family on our patio. And if you combine people and words, I am definitely in my happy place. One of my most favorite moments is sitting around a table with the people I love sharing deep conversations about life. Inviting people into our home and pulling out my fancy dishes invigorates me, though tackling the hand-wash pile in my sink does quite the opposite. (Sorry, Hubby. I’ll get to those soon!) I’m learning to enjoy the people in my life without feeling the need to prove myself or always make them happy. God continues to teach me that when I find what I need in Him rather than the perfectly-cooked chicken or the perfectly-timed word, I have a security that can’t be shaken. And that’s a good thing since my hard-working husband and I have two very determined little girls who keep us on our toes!
