Parenting Resources

  • Pluggedin.com:
    • This is a website (and also available as a mobile app) that writes reviews of the latest movies, games, music, and TV shows. It is such a great resource for parents! You can even search for specific ages. I often visit here to learn about the content of a movie before we decide to see it with the kids. Sometimes I even visit this site for myself before seeing an adult movie.
  • Common Sense Media
    • This is a website and mobile app, also for parents, that has reviews of almost any kind of media–movies, books, TV, games, apps, and websites. I like their “best” lists and their articles for parents also. This website is packed full of good info!
  • Celebrate Calm by Kirk Martin
    • These CDs, the whole collection (Stressed Out Moms, Discipline That Works, Straight Talk for Dads, and more), are awesome. I love listening to them over and over again in the car or while I’m doing chores. They are rooted in dealing with your own anxiety before tackling disobedience and defiance in your kids. They are expensive, but worth the money! If you go to one of his free workshops (which I highly recommend, and take your husband), you can get the CDs for less.
  • Total Baby App
    • Such a helpful resource to write down nursing information, doctor’s visits, child stats and so much more.
  • The Bible App:
    • The Bible App is awesome because not only can you read your Bible in just about any translation on your phone, but you can LISTEN to it while you are folding laundry, etc. Plus, there are hundreds of free devotionals included (many for parents and women). These devotionals are generally short — just long enough for a busy mama to read and digest.
