There are two reasons we named our blog Texting the Truth. The first is because we think it’s a gift to each other to truthfully share about our lives so we know we are not alone. The second reason is because we need to hear truth about our daily situations as moms. And in that vein, we believe that ALL TRUTH ultimately comes from God and His Word.
We believe that God and the Bible are relevant for every issue we face today. This is why we mention it in our text conversations and list applicable Bible verses in the “Truth to Inhale” sections. No matter what situation we encounter, God’s truth will guide us if we listen to it.
We believe God sent His Son, Jesus, to the world to rescue us through His love. Through His death and resurrection, He has made a way for us to spend eternity with Him. We are continually amazed that through His sacrifice, we are not only offered the gift of eternal life but GRACE for today because He bore our sin upon Himself. This incredible truth frees us to be moms, wives, and friends who walk in grace and truth because Jesus showed us how to live in grace and truth.
As a group of moms, we know that we don’t have all the truth we need in ourselves. We rely on God’s Word to inform us and we also believe the Holy Spirit guides and counsels us. As we ask Him to lead our lives, we can trust the Spirit to help us share God’s truth. We rely on God’s Spirit to speak to us and through us to one another.
We don’t want to just write about truth in these texts; we know the most important part is that we apply these truths to our lives, and particularly in our motherhood. We recognize that there is a spiritual battle, and Satan, God’s enemy, seeks to lead us astray from what God wants us to do and tells us lies. This is why we believe in the power of prayer, the importance of truth, and a community of mothers to link arms and fight this battle together armed with Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
We believe that motherhood is a gift–and one we didn’t earn no matter how we became mothers–and we consider it a privilege to raise our children. We desire to shepherd their hearts and that’s something we cannot do in our own power. We recognize our need every minute of every day for God to lead and guide us as mothers. We believe that children are a gift from God, and we grow in our relationship with God as we mother them.
In closing, we want to emphasize that we do not view ourselves as experts or mothers that others should aspire to be; we are real moms in need of real grace. We look to God as our Expert and try to follow His guidance on all aspects of life, but we sometimes get it wrong–in life and in our writing. We are all in process of leaning on God’s grace when we make mistakes, and we are grateful to be on this journey together.
