Katie’s Summer Must-Haves

I always love getting new ideas from other moms! Each week our TtT team is sharing some of our favorite summer items. And we’d love to hear about your Summer Must-Haves, too!

My kids pretty much live outside whenever they can during the summer. When we need a change of pace from riding bikes, my four year old and six year old both love these roller skates! They have wider-set rear wheels than most skates, making them more stable for beginners. They are also adjustable in size.

This is the first summer I’ve felt confident enough to take all four of my kids to the pool by myself (four babies in just under 6 years has made swimming less than relaxing in the past).? If you don’t use Puddle Jumpers with your toddlers at the pool yet, let me tell you – game changer!

Since my older two boys are home from school everyday (and need something quiet to do while my youngest gets his afternoon nap!), we play lots of board games over the summer.?? My boys are obsessed with whatever sport is currently in season – which means baseball right now.⚾ So, the board game Bases Loaded has big appeal for them. Stratomatic is another favorite since it revolves around stats from real MLB all-stars (best for kids ages 8+).

My friend recommended Keys for Kids Word with Zach this summer. I am loving starting our mornings with a little kid-friendly devotional during breakfast!? Keys for Kids offers FREE devotionals for kids year-round (available via email or snail mail). And they have a FREE summer Bible reading program where kids can earn prizes for reading a Bible passage and a short devotional every day for a month. The devotionals are most age-appropriate for my third grader, but my younger kids listen in and are still picking up little nuggets of truth as they do.

What are your favorite summer things? Share them below!~Katie

About Michelle Warner

The truth about me is that I love spending time with people–whether it be with moms in MOPS, students in writing camps, friends in my supper club, or family on our patio. And if you combine people and words, I am definitely in my happy place. One of my most favorite moments is sitting around a table with the people I love sharing deep conversations about life. Inviting people into our home and pulling out my fancy dishes invigorates me, though tackling the hand-wash pile in my sink does quite the opposite. (Sorry, Hubby. I’ll get to those soon!) I’m learning to enjoy the people in my life without feeling the need to prove myself or always make them happy. God continues to teach me that when I find what I need in Him rather than the perfectly-cooked chicken or the perfectly-timed word, I have a security that can’t be shaken. And that’s a good thing since my hard-working husband and I have two very determined little girls who keep us on our toes!
